Field placement
Four ways to place signature zones and form fields on the document, from the most visual to the most automatic.
1. Visual editor (recommended)
In the template editor, the Signature Placement section shows the document on a proportional canvas:
- click Pick on page on a recipient, then click the page where you want the field — a crosshair follows the mouse in the recipient's color, and the coordinates are captured automatically;
- each recipient has its color and order number; the legend lists positions (
X:445 Y:210); - placed boxes can be dragged with the mouse, coordinates updating live;
- up to 5 recipients placeable per page.
The full online editor adds drag & drop placement of every field type (text, checkbox, radio, date, initials, attachment), a properties panel (size, required, read-only, default value, condition), field duplication, zoom (50–200%) and multi-page navigation.
2. Anchor Text
Insert a unique string in your Word/PDF document — for example [[CUSTOMER_NAME]] — and TrueSign positions the field on that anchor. If the layout changes, the field follows the anchor: the most robust method for documents that evolve.
Related lists (product line tables) anchor the same way.
3. Automatic tags
TrueSign recognizes standard tags placed in the document text:

Write the tag in the background color (white on white) so it is invisible in the final document.
4. Manual coordinates
As a last resort: page, X, Y, width, height in PDF points (A4 = 595 × 842 pt). Useful for scripting and very precise cases.
If automatic tags and manual coordinates are both defined for the same signer, the tags win.
Placeable field types
Signature, initials, signing date (stamped automatically), free text, checkbox, radio buttons, dropdown list, attachment (the signer uploads a supporting document), calculated field (e.g. total = quantity × unit price), masked-input field (e.g. XXX-XX-XXXX). Every input field accepts type validation.
