In-person signing

In-person signing lets a physically present customer sign on your device — tablet, laptop — without any email being sent to them.

How it works: a host (you, or a designated colleague) carries the signing session. The signer signs directly on screen; the proof certificate distinguishes the physical signer from the host for the audit trail.

Configure an in-person send

  1. In the sending form, add the signer and check In-Person.
  2. Fill in the host: their name and email (often yourself — the administrator can prefill it in the template with a merge field like {!User.Email}).
  3. Send the request.

Differences from a standard send:

  • No invitation email is sent to the signer.
  • A Sign Now button appears on the request in Salesforce, carrying the signing session link.
  • The Resend button is hidden (there is no email to resend).

Get the signature

  1. Open the request on your device and click Sign Now.
  2. Hand the screen to the signer: they review the document, fill in any fields and sign.
  3. The status moves to Done, the signed PDF is attached to the record — like any send.

Example

A sales rep at a customer meeting configures an In-Person request from the opportunity, with their own email as host. They open the link on their tablet; the customer signs on screen. TrueSign records the signature with timestamp and proof certificate.

Rules to know
  • A host with a valid email is mandatory for every In-Person signer.
  • In sequential routing, the order is enforced in person too: the Sign Now button only appears on the signer's turn (and after any pending approvals).
